In addition to the On-Going 62 grantees, forty-three (43) more grantees of the Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) signed a contract with the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI) during the SIKAP Contract Signing Ceremony at the CHEDRO XI Regional Office on April 11, 2022.
To date, a total of 105 faculty members in Davao Region have availed of the said grant since last school year.
Subsequent to the successful implementation of SIKAP under the leadership of CHED Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III, the Commission aims to strengthen continuing professional education and professional advancement by providing financial assistance and incentives through the CHED SIKAP Grant.
This Grant is open to all HEI-teaching and non-teaching personnel or former HEI teaching personnel seeking to acquire advanced graduate degrees from various Sending Higher Education Institutions (SHEIs) throughout Davao Region.
In Davao Region, there are currently three (3) identified CHED-recognized Delivering Higher Education Institutions (DHEIs) such as the University of Mindanao (UM), University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), and Cor Jesu College (CJC).
Meanwhile, the Commission is still accepting HEIs which intend to become one of the delivering institutions in the Region.
The SIKAP grant will cover the actual tuition and school fees comprised of a thirty-seven-thousand-peso (₱37,000) living allowance per month for scholars undertaking a Master’s Degree, fifty-thousand-peso (₱50,000) living allowance for those taking a Doctorate Degree, a twenty-four-thousand-peso (₱24,000) book allowance per school year, and a twenty-four-thousand-peso (₱24,000) transportation allowance, among others.
Furthermore, scholars may also avail additional privileges such as Research Support Grant, Research Publication Incentive, Mentor’s Fee, and Early Completion Incentive.
In her welcome remarks, CHED RO XI Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo congratulated the 2nd batch of SIKAP grantees and reminded them of their roles and responsibilities as stipulated in the contract they have signed. She also encouraged them to finish their graduate degrees, to remain steadfast amidst any adversity, and be of better service to their fellowmen in whatever way they can.
