A total of 81 Information Technology Education (ITE) Administrators and Faculty Members in  Davao Region from 18 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) offering ITE Programs were recognized by the Commission on Higher Education XI (CHED XI) on May 19, 2025, at CHED XI Function Hall, for serving in various capacities during the May 12, 2025, National and Local Elections (NLE), namely as Consolidation and Canvassing System (CCS) Technicians, Hardware Repair Hub Technicians, and Trainers of DepEd Supervisor Official-Technical Support Staff (DESO-TSS).

The honorees were composed of 54 CCS Technicians, 12 Repair Hub Technicians, and 15 DESO-TSS Trainers. They were deployed in various cities, municipalities, and provinces to provide essential technical support.

It can be recalled that the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) with Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia, dated October 4, 2024, underscores CHED’s commitment to mobilizing qualified administrators, faculty, and students from HEIs offering ITE programs, as manpower complement, to provide vital technical support during the 2025 NLE.

The recognition ceremony was spearheaded by CHED XI Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, CESO III, alongside Dr. Luis D. Perez, Chief Education Program Specialist who also served as the National Coordinator, and Engr. Rodrigo S. Pangantihon Jr., Education Supervisor II and Regional Coordinator for Manpower Complementation in Davao Region.

“I truly appreciate all our ITE administrators and faculty members who stepped up and said yes to the challenge, to the call for service during the 2025 National and Local Elections. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, skills, expertise and for doing your tasks exceptionally well. Your dedication and reliability have not gone unnoticed,” said RD Casquejo.

Adding depth to the ceremony, personal stories from the field were shared. Dr. Ramcis Vilchez, Dean of the College of Computing Education at the University of Mindanao, shared his experience as a Hardware Repair Hub Tech in Davao City. He is thankful for the opportunity to serve and for sharing their expertise outside the four walls of the classroom.

Similarly, Mr. Joselito Mebolos, an IT faculty member from the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), recounted his experience as a CCS Tech assigned to the remote area of Balut Island/Sarangani, Davao Occidental. His story highlighted the challenges of providing technical support in remote locations, particularly regarding the transmission of results from the precincts and ensuring uninterrupted canvassing.

As stated in their appointment papers, the CCS Technicians were tasked as manpower complement in ensuring the smooth canvassing of election results by addressing technical issues at canvassing centers, while the Repair Hub Technicians focused on troubleshooting and repairing defective ACMs at designated repair hubs.
