CHED RO XI and PNVSCA Explore Partnership to Promote Volunteerism in Higher Education

Davao City, May 28, 2025 — The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI), headed by Regional Director Maricar R. Casquejo, met with the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) to discuss possible collaboration in promoting volunteerism across higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Davao Region.

PNVSCA was represented by Executive Director Donald James Cawe, CESO III, and Senior Volunteer Saervice Officer Raymart V. Maruquez. The meeting focused on aligning efforts to integrate volunteerism into academic and institutional programs.

Discussions highlighted the importance of embedding volunteerism in both curricular and co-curricular activities, faculty extension work, and institutional development plans. Both agencies emphasized that volunteerism is a key strategy for nation-building, civic engagement, and student development.

This initial meeting sets the direction for future joint initiatives between CHED RO XI and PNVSCA to institutionalize volunteerism in higher education and strengthen the sector’s role in community service and public engagement.
