CHED RD Casquejo Witnesses MOA Signing Between PASUC and PNVCA to Promote Volunteerism in Higher Education

Davao City, May 29, 2025 — In a significant move to promote volunteerism and civic engagement within the higher education sector, the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and the Philippine National Voluntarism Coordinating Agency (PNVCA) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on May 29, 2025, at the Accreditation Room of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) in Bo. Obrero, Davao City.

The ceremony was graced by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, who witnessed the signing, underscoring CHED’s continued support for strategic partnerships that empower academic institutions and communities through volunteerism.

The MOA was signed by Dr. Joy Sorrosa, President of PASUC and also President of Davao del Norte State College, and Donald James Cawe, CESO III, Executive Director of the PNVCA. Also present were Presidents of various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from across the country, demonstrating strong institutional commitment to integrating voluntarism into higher education programs and activities.

This partnership aims to institutionalize a framework for volunteer engagement among SUCs, aligning with national development goals and fostering the spirit of service and civic responsibility among faculty, staff, and students.
