Davao City– As part of its commitment to providing developmental interventions that promote the sustainability of higher education institutions (HEIs), the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI) continues to roll out initiatives under its One Network Towards Sustainability of Operations in Higher Education or ONSE Talks Program. On June 20, 2025, CHED RO XI, led by Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, held a strategic meeting with the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) Graduate School officials, headed by Dr. Avee Joy B. Dayaganon, and the Regional Council of Deans of Business Education and Governance XI (RCDBEG XI), represented by its president and RMC Dean Dr. Janine Betonio.

The meeting focused on finalizing the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and addressing essential requirements for the launch of a Special Doctoral Program designed specifically for academic leaders. This initiative is intended to assist Deans and Program Heads of Business, Management, Accountancy, Customs, and other related disciplines in pursuing their doctoral degrees while actively performing their administrative roles in their respective institutions.

The University of the Immaculate Conception will serve as the delivering HEI for this unique and timely program. Through this initiative, successful candidates will be conferred the Doctor of Business Management (DBM) degree. This effort supports the professional advancement of HEI leaders, recognizing the value of further academic development while balancing institutional responsibilities.

As of June 20, 2025, CHED RO XI has received confirmation of interest from 22 potential candidates representing 14 HEIs across the region. This growing interest signifies strong support for CHED RO XI’s efforts to strengthen leadership capacity in higher education. The Special Doctoral Program under the ONSE Talks banner reflects the region’s proactive approach to ensuring long-term operational sustainability in the higher education sector.
