Davao City- In a significant step toward achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification by November 2025, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) successfully wrapped up the Final Vetting of the Manual of Operations (MOP) for Regional Offices and the One CHED Quality Management System (QMS) Manuals. The event, held in Davao City from August 13 to 15, 2025, marked a critical milestone in ensuring that all required documents are finalized and disseminated by August 2025, aligning with the agency’s certification timeline.
The final vetting session was guided by three key objectives. First, finalize the Handbook on CHED Regional Office Operations: The event focused on consolidating feedback and incorporating updated guidelines to produce a comprehensive and standardized handbook for CHED Regional Office operations. Second, conduct a comprehensive review and validation of QMS documents: Participants performed an in-depth review to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and alignment of QMS documents with ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Lastly, prepare for official certification: The session aimed to prepare for the One CHED QMS certification by identifying critical timelines, resource needs, and key compliance milestones to ensure a smooth certification process..
The success of the event was driven by the active participation and valuable contributions of the Technical Working Group for the MOP, the Quality Management Unit, and Quality Management Representatives from regions already certified with ISO 9001:2015. Under the leadership of Executive Director Atty. Cinderella Filipina Benitez-Jaro, the participants provided insightful feedback and constructive opinions, which were instrumental in refining the documents and ensuring their compliance with international standards.
The collaborative environment fostered open discussions, allowing for thorough validation and enhancement of the MOP and QMS manuals. This teamwork ensured that the documents not only meet ISO 9001:2015 requirements but also reflect the operational needs and goals of CHED’s regional offices.
The successful wrap up of the final vetting underscores CHED’s commitment to achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, a globally recognized standard for quality management systems. By finalizing the necessary documentation and establishing a clear roadmap for compliance, CHED is well-positioned to meet its November 2025 certification target.
The event’s outcomes, including the finalized Handbook and validated QMS documents, set a strong foundation for the One CHED QMS. These efforts highlight the agency’s dedication to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality services to stakeholders.
With the final vetting successfully concluded, CHED is now focused on the next steps toward certification, including adhering to critical timelines and ensuring resource readiness. The contributions of all participants have been pivotal in moving the agency closer to this significant achievement.
