CODEE XI and CHED RO XI Convene Virtual Meeting for Upcoming Regional Curriculum Review Fora
The Council of Deans for Engineering Education Region XI (CODEE XI), in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI), successfully conducted a virtual meeting with officers of professional organizations, program heads, and faculty members from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region.
Among the participating professional organizations were ICpEP XI, IECEP XI, IIEE Davao, PICE XI, PSIM XI, and PSME XI, representing the key disciplines of Computer Engineering (CpE), Civil Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics Engineering (ECE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME). Their active involvement underscored the importance of collaboration between the academe, industry, and government in shaping responsive engineering curricula.
The meeting focused on discussions and preparations for the 1st Regional Industry-Government-Academe Fora on Curriculum Review for Engineering Programs, a pioneering initiative that seeks to align these five engineering programs—CpE, CE, EE, ECE, and ME—with current industry standards, technological advancements, and national development priorities. This collaborative approach is expected to enhance the relevance, quality, and competitiveness of engineering education in Region XI.
The upcoming fora, which will bring together stakeholders from the academic, industry, and government sectors, will be hosted by the College of Engineering Education of the University of Mindanao in September 2025. It aims to provide a platform for critical dialogue, sharing of best practices, and the development of innovative strategies to strengthen engineering education in the region.
Through this initiative, CODEE XI and CHED RO XI reaffirm their commitment to fostering strong partnerships and promoting academic excellence that will equip future engineers with the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.
