The Association of Region XI Teacher Education Institutions (ARTEI XI), in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI), held the Middle Managers Capacity Development Cum General Assembly on September 10, 2025, at Sunny Point Hotel, Maa, Davao City. Anchored on the theme “Navigating Change: Teachers at the Heart of Transformation,” the event provided an avenue for educational leaders to enhance their capacity to adapt, innovate, and guide institutions in a rapidly evolving academic landscape.
The assembly was graced by Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, Regional Director of CHED RO XI, who highlighted the importance of the gathering as an avenue to learn, engage, network, and effectively navigate the ever-changing higher education landscape.
Adding depth to the discussions, Dr. Edison A. Fermin, Chair of the Technical Panel for Teacher Education, delivered a thought-provoking presentation on “Adapting Curriculum in a Changing World: Shaping the Education of Tomorrow.” His talk focused on the importance of responsive curriculum development in preparing students to thrive in uncertain and complex environments.
Equally engaging was the session led by Dr. Randy A. Tudy, who spoke on “Lifelong Learning: Professional Development in a Changing World.” He highlighted that professional growth is not a one-time pursuit but a continuous cycle of renewal, reminding educators of their responsibility to remain adaptive and proactive in the face of change.
To provide timely policy updates, Dr. Evelyn S. Ecle, Adviser of ARTEI XI, shared insights on the internationalization framework of Philippine higher education. Her updates helped participants better appreciate the global positioning of local Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs).
The event culminated with the awarding of Certificates of Recognition to TEIs for their exemplary performance in the March 2025 Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT). This recognition reaffirmed the dedication of institutions in Region XI to producing highly competent and globally competitive educators.
Overall, the assembly served as a meaningful platform for middle managers and education leaders to reaffirm their vital role in guiding teachers, institutions, and communities through change. As echoed throughout the program, teachers remain at the heart of transformation, and their ability to adapt and lead will shape the future of education in the country.
