CHEDRO XI Hosts Zonal Orientation on BSMfgE Policies and Standards

Davao City, Philippines — The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHEDRO XI) spearheaded the Zonal Public Orientation on CMO No. 16, series of 2025, which outlines the Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSG) for the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering (BSMfgE) program, on September 10–11, 2025 at the Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City.

The two-day activity brought together higher education institutions (HEIs) from Regions IX, X, XI, XII, and Caraga, fostering a collaborative platform to align academic programs with national standards in manufacturing engineering.

Presenting the PSG were Dr. Manuel Belino, Chairperson, and Engr. Efren Dela Cruz, Member of the Technical Committee for Mechanical Engineering, who detailed the updated policies and curricular requirements designed to strengthen the country’s manufacturing engineering education.

The event also welcomed representatives from the CHED Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD)Engr. Fernandita J. Calimlim and Mr. Moises B. Cabreros Jr.—along with Education Supervisors for Engineering and Technology from CHED Regional Offices across Mindanao.

Dr. Luis D. Perez and Dr. Maria Christina B. Condez formally opened the orientation, extending CHEDRO XI’s commitment to supporting higher education institutions in meeting the evolving demands of the manufacturing sector.

This zonal orientation underscores CHED’s dedication to ensuring that Philippine engineering programs remain globally competitive and responsive to industry needs.
