Davao City— Assumption College of Davao (ACD) has officially received the CHED STEP-UP Grant following the approval of its project proposal titled “Kitchen for Tomorrow: Innovating for a Greener Future,” under Commission en Banc Resolution No. 034-2025 dated November 17, 2025.

The project successfully underwent evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education – Office of Programs, Standards and Development (CHED-OPSD), which conducted a site visit in May 2025 to assess the institution’s readiness, facilities, and compliance with program requirements. The favorable evaluation paved the way for the grant approval under the Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF).

On March 2, 2026, following the issuance of the Notice to Proceed and participation in the Orientation of STEP-UP Grantees, ACD President Sr. Elvira D. Soleminio, MA, MBA, together with the Project Lead Implementer, paid a courtesy visit to CHED Regional Office XI Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo. The visit served to express the institution’s gratitude and reaffirm its commitment to the effective and timely implementation of the project.

The STEP-UP (Sustainable Tertiary Education and Upgrading Program) Grant supports initiatives that enhance institutional capacity, promote innovation, and align higher education programs with sustainability and industry needs. ACD’s project, focused on developing a greener and more innovative kitchen facility, reflects its dedication to environmental responsibility and quality education in hospitality and related fields.

This milestone highlights CHED RO XI’s continued support for higher education institutions in advancing transformative and sustainable programs that contribute to regional development and future-ready learning environments.
