Davao City — As part of the celebration of the 32nd Founding Anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), CHED Regional Office XI successfully conducted a Fire Drill and Safety Seminar in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). The activity was organized to strengthen the preparedness of CHED personnel and promote a culture of safety and disaster awareness within the workplace.

The activity focused on enhancing employees’ knowledge and awareness of fire prevention, emergency response, evacuation procedures, and disaster safety protocols. Through the safety seminar, participants were provided with practical information on identifying fire hazards, responding appropriately to emergencies, and observing proper safety measures to protect lives and property.

The seminar was complemented by an actual fire drill and demonstration, allowing CHED personnel to apply the lessons discussed and familiarize themselves with appropriate evacuation and emergency response procedures. The activity provided an opportunity for employees to assess their readiness and reinforce the importance of remaining calm, alert, and responsive during unforeseen incidents.

CHED RO XI expresses its sincere appreciation to the BFP Bajada Fire Station, led by SF02 Alfredo C. Alas Jr., for their invaluable support, technical expertise, and commitment to promoting fire safety and disaster preparedness. The partnership reflects the importance of inter-agency collaboration in ensuring safer workplaces and strengthening the capacity of government personnel to respond effectively to emergencies.

The conduct of the Fire Drill and Safety Seminar forms part of CHED RO XI’s continuing commitment to employee welfare, workplace safety, and organizational preparedness. As the Commission celebrates its 32nd Founding Anniversary, the activity serves as a reminder that building a stronger institution also means ensuring that its people are equipped, prepared, and empowered to protect one another in times of emergency.
