DAVAO DE ORO | September 14, 2026 — The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI) joined 17 other National Government Agencies (NGAs) in bringing government programs and services closer to communities during Handog ng Pangulo 2026, held at the Provincial Capitol of Davao de Oro on September 14, 2026.

The activity served as a convergence platform for government agencies and stakeholders to provide communities with direct access to various government programs and services, particularly those addressing education, social welfare, and other essential needs.

As part of CHED RO XI’s participation, the Commission facilitated the ceremonial distribution of financial assistance under the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) to qualified student beneficiaries from identified State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) in Davao de Oro. A total of 5,925 grantees were covered, with ₱50,085,000.00 in financial assistance disbursed to qualified beneficiaries.

The ceremonial distribution was assisted by CHED RO XI Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, together with Dr. Christopher Pio O. Pulido, Chief Education Program Specialist, and Ms. Maria Bonjeavem L. Alger, Chief Administrative Officer. Their participation highlighted the Commission’s efforts to ensure the effective delivery of student financial assistance programs to qualified beneficiaries.

he SUC/LUC Fair also provided an avenue for students, parents, and other stakeholders to explore higher education opportunities available within the province. Participating institutions included Davao de Oro State College, along with four Local Universities and Colleges—Colegio de Nabunturan, Kolehiyo ng Pantukan, Maco de Oro College, and Monkayo College of Arts, Sciences and Technology.

The participating higher education institutions provided information on their academic programs and degree offerings, as well as career guidance, admission requirements, and enrollment procedures, enabling prospective students to make more informed decisions about their educational and career pathways.

Complementing these efforts, CHED RO XI established an information and assistance booth during the activity, where students, parents, prospective college students, educators, and other stakeholders were provided with information on CHED scholarships, student financial assistance programs, frontline services, and other higher education programs and initiatives

The booth also featured CHED Tañaw, the Commission’s national online mapping and analytics portal that helps students, parents, policymakers, and other stakeholders locate legitimate and government-recognized higher education institutions in the Philippines. Through the platform, visitors were introduced to an accessible resource for identifying recognized institutions and exploring higher education opportunities.

CHED RO XI’s participation in Handog ng Pangulo 2026 demonstrated the value of bringing government education services directly to communities, particularly by connecting students and families with financial assistance, higher education opportunities, and reliable information. Through collaboration with higher education institutions and government partners, the Commission continues to strengthen access to quality and inclusive higher education across the Davao Region.
