CHED Conducts COPC Review Visit for USEP’s Master of Arts in Literature Program

Davao City, May 26, 2025 — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) conducted a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) review visit for the Master of Arts in Literature (MALit) program of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP). This activity was part of USEP’s application for the issuance of the COPC for the program.

The visit began with a courtesy call to USEP President, Dr. Bonifacio Gabales Jr., underscoring the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards. Following the formalities, the review team conducted a comprehensive evaluation throughout the day, which included document validation, facility inspections, and in-depth discussions with university officials.

The purpose of the review was to assess the program’s compliance with CHED’s policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that the MALit program meets the quality requirements mandated by the commission.

The review team was composed of experts including Dr. Wendell Capili and Dr. Hope Yu from the Technical Panel for Literature, Ms. May de Mesa-Zapanta, Education Program Specialist II from the CHED Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD), and Dr. Cesar A. Adegue IV, Education Supervisor II from CHED Regional Office XI.

This COPC review visit reflects CHED’s dedication to upholding quality assurance in higher education institutions, ensuring that programs like USEP’s MALit continue to provide excellent academic training and contribute to the advancement of Philippine education.
