Davao City — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office through the Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD), in collaboration with CHED Regional Office XI, conducted a joint ocular visit at Lyceum of the Philippines University Davao (LPU Davao) on May 28–29, 2025, as part of the university’s application to offer the Bachelor of Science in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program.

The evaluation team was composed of Engr. Sherwin Revereza, CHED OPSD representative; Dr. Jay Jack Manzano, member of the CHED Technical Panel for Aviation; and Dr. Maria Christina Condez, CHEDRO XI Education Supervisor overseeing Aviation and Engineering programs. The team assessed the institution’s readiness in terms of facilities, faculty qualifications, curriculum compliance, and industry alignment required for offering the specialized aviation program.

LPU Davao, led by Dr. Jason Barlan and his administrative and academic team, warmly welcomed the CHED evaluators and expressed the institution’s commitment to complying with CHED standards to produce highly skilled aviation professionals.

The visit forms part of CHED’s rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure that higher education institutions (HEIs) offering aviation-related programs uphold national and international safety and competency standards.

Pending the results of the evaluation, LPU Davao looks forward to receiving its Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) and contributing to the growing demand for licensed aircraft maintenance professionals in the region and beyond.
