From One to Five: Davao Region HEIs Make Strong Showing in WURI 2025 Rankings

Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao leads the region at Rank 295 in the Global Top 400 Innovative Universities, followed by Davao del Sur State College at Rank 342, and the University of the Immaculate Conception at Rank 398. Meanwhile, Ateneo de Davao University and the University of Southeastern Philippines made it to the Top 100 in multiple WURI categories, further showcasing the region’s growing reputation in academic innovation.

In the specialized category rankings, Davao Region HEIs stood out in key areas of educational transformation and social relevance. Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao earned Rank 21 in Visionary Leadership, and Rank 28 in both Culture and Values and University Brand and Reputation. The University of the Immaculate Conception was recognized at Rank 6 in Student Mobility and Openness, Rank 24 in Industrial Application, and Rank 43 in SDG-based Responses to Global Challenges. Similarly, Davao del Sur State College ranked 24th in Industrial Application, 35th in Ethics and Integrity, and 25th in University Brand and Reputation. The University of Southeastern Philippines landed at Rank 64 in Crisis Management and Rank 22 in SDG-based Responses, while Ateneo de Davao University ranked 54th in Student Mobility and Openness.

These achievements reflect the region’s commitment to reimagining higher education through meaningful innovation and impact. Unlike traditional rankings that focus on research output and academic reputation, the WURI rankings emphasize real-world contributions, relevance to industry, ethical leadership, and social responsibility.
