The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHEDRO XI) conducted the 2nd Regional Multidisciplinary Research Conference of the K to 12 Transition Program’s Scholarship for Graduate Studies – Local (SGS-L) Graduates on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 via hybrid platform.
This is one of the Regional initiatives in celebration of the 28th Founding Anniversary of the Commission on Higher Education with theme, “Claiming Victory for Quality Education: Dekalidad na Edukasyon, Karapatan ng Mamamayan” and in observance of the 2nd National Higher Education Week.
As part of the commission’s mandate of promoting relevant and quality higher education by fostering intellectual growth and advancement of learning and research among its stakeholders, twenty-three (23) SGS-L graduated grantees in Davao Region presented their theses and dissertations in the said conference.
The panel of reactors who gave their valuable insights and opinions on the presentations were Dr. Renan P. Limjuco of the University of the Immaculate Conception, Dr. John Stephen Curada of Heartworks Learning Center, Inc., and Dr. Gaudencio G. Abellanosa of the University of Southeastern Philippines.
It can be recalled that CHEDRO XI held its 1st Regional Multidisciplinary Research Conference last 2020 with a total of sixty (60) graduated scholars who presented their theses and dissertations and 115 approved papers were published in the Volume 1 of the Compendium of Research Abstracts.
In her opening remarks, Regional Director Dir. Maricar R. Casquejo mentioned that the conference was conceptualized in fulfillment of the office’s promise to continue providing a platform for faculty researchers to present their studies on a regional level. “It is our goal that after this conference, more faculty researchers will become effective paper presenters and be inspired to conduct researches that are timely, relevant, responsive, innovative, and well-thought-of contributing to the development of the country”, she said.
“Compliance to academic requirements should never be the end goal in interpreting research outputs but rather to be properly disseminated in order to fully utilize it”, she added.
CHED Executive Director Atty. Cinderella Filipina S. Benitez-Jaro also highlighted the role of the commission in supporting the research mandate of the higher education institutions and empowering stakeholders to engage in meaningful development activities so they can produce significant and relevant innovations. “It is our duty to showcase what our stakeholders have accomplished so that we can engage more of our constituents in our future programs”, she said.
