The said project entitled: “Baseline Data on Digital Transformation of Higher Education Institutions: Mindanao SUCs” is anchored to the concept of the Trans-Mindanao Network Links for Advanced Computing (TNALAC) as developed by Dr. Roel M. Ocampo, which is to connect all SUCs main and satellite campuses in Mindanao including the five (5) CHED Regional Offices and other partner institutions.

This is the first significant event in 2023 facilitated by the CHED Regional Office XI as it promotes the growth of digital transformation in HEIs not only in Davao Region but also in all regions in Mindanao through Establishing Platforms, Adapting Digital, and Leading Digital. Moreover, this is also in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education (SDG 4) and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and contributing to the Philippine long-term vision- the Ambisyon Natin 2040 of Matatag, Maginhawa and Panatag na Buhay for all Filipinos. But, more importantly, it supports one of the cross-cutting strategies of Digitalization under the Transformation Agenda espoused by the updated Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

As one of the initial steps in the Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF)-funded project to Develop and Validate the Assessment Tools for the Digital Readiness and Digital Capability for the participating institutions in Mindanao, the activity highlighted the following: (1) Presentation of the draft of the Assessment Tool of the Baseline Data towards Digital Transformation of HEIs for SUCs in Mindanao; (2) Responses from the Panel of Reactors namely, Engr. Danilo Tiongco of Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao, Prof. Miguel Soledad of Davao Doctors College,  Dr. Randy Gamboa of the University of Southeastern Philippines, and Engr. Albert Gabriel of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, and (3) Guided Deployment Simulation of the Assessment Tool.

CHED Regional Directors from Mindanao, who are also members of the Technical Working Group (TWG), Dr. Nelia A. Alibin of CHEDRO XII, Dr. Rody P. Garcia of CHEDRO IX, and Dr. George M. Colorado of CHEDRO Caraga and their focal persons in Digital Transformation graced the event. Designated key personnel from the different SUCs in Davao Region also took part in the sessions.

The event was attended by 50 participants from various regions in Mindanao.
