State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Presidents in Davao Region such as Dr. Roy G. Ponce of Davao Oriental State University (DORSU), Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa of Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera of Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC), Dr. Augie E. Fuentes of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao of University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), and Dr. Ruth S. Lucero of Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) presented their FY 2023 Budget Proposals during the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI Budget Review and Consultation on February 18, 2022 via Zoom Video conferencing.
In consonance with the pertinent provisions of Department of Budget and Management- National Budget Memorandum (DBM-NBM) No. 142 dated January 2022, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is mandated to vet and endorse the SUCs proposals with specific concerns.
During the said activity, the Regional Development Council highlighted the importance for SUCs in the Region to prioritize the following Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs): massive job generation and more investment opportunities, healthy population; a more agile workforce, a reliable digital technology and infrastructure and resilient business; Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Program; GIDAS or communities with marginalized population physically and socio-economically separated from the mainstream society; Climate Change especially those in the poorest and most vulnerable areas; Metropolitan Davao development; youth development, Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWD); and Gender and Development (GAD) among others.
Prior to today’s RDC XI review, CHEDRO XI Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo met with the Davao Region SUC Presidents last February 15, 2022 in DOrSU, Mati City, Davao Oriental to help them in their preparation for the SUCs’ FY 2023 Budget Proposals.
