The CHED RO XI in coordination with the Davao Association of Guidance Counselors (DAGCo) conducted the 2nd Leg of Training towards Capacitating Guidance Counselors of Davao Region on Drug Preventive and Control Curriculum, Intervention, Management, and Proper Handling of Drug Cases in the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from June 06 to June 07, 2023 at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Palma Gil Street, Davao City.
Guidance Counselors from the 43 HEIs of Davao Region participated in the 9-module training on Drugs Preventive and Control Curriculum, Intervention, Management, and Proper Handling of Drug Cases facilitated by Ms. Teresa Exala, RGC of USEP (Modules 1 & 2), Ms. Ma. Eloiza Estrera, RGC of JMCFI (Modules 3 & 4), Dr. Jeric Anthony Arnado, RGC of DSSC (Module 5), Ms. Jovy Gatan, RGC of UIC (Module 6), Ms. Liezel Lopez, RGC of MMCM (Modules 7, 8 & 9) and Dr. Jimmy Jesuro, RGC from the Department of Education Region XI who tackled the topic on Potential Treatment and Intervention Options for Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
This activity is a major step towards the Regional Office’ implementation of CHED Memorandum Order No. 18 series 2018 “The Implementing Guidelines for the Conduct of Drug Testing of Students in All Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)” and in preparation for the CHED RO XI and Council of Deans and Program Heads for Criminal Justice Education – initiated Proposed Guidelines on the Mandatory Drug Testing for Criminology and Forensic Science students of HEIs in the Davao Region, which supports Executive Order No. 66 series of 2018, also known as “Institutionalizing the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy”.
