To prepare for the implementation of the mandatory ROTC, the Philippine Army, through Col. Josue M. Caberto, the Group Commander of the 11 Regional Community Defence Group (RCDG) and the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI, conceptualized and conducted the 2023 Davao Region ROTC Summit on July 28, 2023 and hosted by the University of Southeastern Philippines, Obrero, Davao City.
The said ROTC Summit was participated by over 200 National Service Training Program (NSTP), Office of Student Affairs (OSA), & Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) Directors / Coordinators and conducted to heighten to raise awareness and foster advocacy for the implementation of Mandatory ROTC, to orient the participants on the salient features of the NSTP Law (RA 9163) and CHED Memorandum Order and Guidelines, to discuss programs of different branches of AFP (Army, Airforce, and Navy), to discuss issues and concerns on the implementation of ROTC, and to establish networking and camaraderie among the implementers of ROTC.
The ROTC Summit stands as an essential milestone towards fortifying our nation’s commitment to instilling discipline, promoting patriotism, and developing the leadership potential of our students.
