To respond to its role in the accomplishment of CHED Strategic Plan 2023-2028 and higher education sector goals in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, the CHED Office of Planning, Research, and Knowledge Management (OPRKM) initiated the conduct of the Zonal Orientation /Workshop on the Guidelines for the Updating of the Public Investment Program (PIP) 2023-2028 and Formulation of the Three-Year Rolling Infrastructure Program (TRIP) for FYs 2025-2027 as Inputs to the FY 2025 Budget Preparation.

The Public Investment Program (PIP) is a vital component of the Philippine Development Plan, outlining priority programs and projects for government entities. It improves coordination in the public sector’s planning, programming, budgeting, and evaluation processes. Annually, it’s updated to enhance effectiveness, serving as a basis for the FY 2025 Budget Preparation. The PIP/TRIP uses the PIPOL System for managing program and project data efficiently.

The National Economic and Development Authority-Public Investment Staff (NEDA-PIS) oriented the participants on PIP updating through the PIPOL System and TRIP formulation. Thereafter, CHED OPRKM and Office of Institutional Quality Assurance & Governance (OIQAG) briefed the participants on the recent CHED Strategic Plan 2023-2028, and Higher Education Key Performance indicators of CHED and SUCs.

The event, participated by almost one hundred (100) CHEDROs and SUCs Budget Officers and Planning Officers in Mindanao, was held in the Grand Menseng Hotel, Davao City, on October 10, 2023. It was graced by OPRKM OIC-Director Dr. Mary Sylvette T. Gunigundo, CHED CARAGA OIC-Director Alma S. Patron, and host CHED XI Regional Director Maricar R. Casquejo, Ph.D., CESO III.

Finally, the activity is significant because its results and outcome shall be utilized as inputs for the FY 2025 Budget Preparation, which is scheduled during the First Quarter of 2024.
