Consistent with the Commission’s goal of sustaining quality and excellence in higher education institutions (HEIs), CHED XI, together with other National Government Agencies (NGAs) and organizations in Mindanao through the Manifesto of Commitment, supports the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) program in Mindanao. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Competitiveness Bureau and the University of Mindanao (UM) initiated the conduct of the PQA Integrated Capability Training with the theme “Mindanao Momentum: Elevating Quality and Productivity” on October 23, 2023 at the Matina Campus, University of Mindanao, Davao City.
The PQA Integrated Capability Training in Mindanao is a new initiative designed to help organizations from private and public sectors achieve excellence through a comprehensive learning experience on the PQA framework. It included the Toolkit for Organizational Resilience and Excellence (TORE) Workshop and a 4-day Assessors Preparatory Course.
The event showcased the Best Practices Sharing of four (4) Mindanao-based PQA recipients, namely, the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, Mindanao Corrugated Fibreboard, Inc., Department of Science and Technology – Region XI, and the UM. Several organizations in Mindanao have demonstrated exceptional commitment to excellence and resilience, earning recognition through the PQA Program. The UM is a recipient of the PQA for Performance Excellence (Level IV) under the 25th PQA Assessment Cycle. It is also the first academic institution to receive such a level of award.
Since the event is the first in-person PQA training since the COVID-19 pandemic, it was also attended by participants from as far as Luzon and Visayas.
