Davao City, Philippines – The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI) recently brought together a diverse group of scholars for a day of assessment, fellowship, and community engagement. The event, titled PANAGTIGUM 2023: SIKAP YEAR-END ASSESSMENT AND FELLOWSHIP, took place on December 8, 2023, at the Grand MenSeng Hotel in Davao City. This gathering aimed to celebrate the achievements of 158 grantees of the Scholarships for Staff and Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) from eight different batches.
The day-long event was marked by various activities that fostered camaraderie, reflection, and gratitude among the scholars. Regional Director, Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, delivered a poignant message, highlighting the significance of thanksgiving, discernment, and fellowship. Moreover, she motivated and encouraged the scholars to complete their programs and fulfill their corresponding responsibilities.
In her address, RD Casquejo emphasized the need for scholars to appreciate the opportunities presented to them and to recognize the support they have received throughout their educational endeavors. The message aimed to instill a sense of gratitude and mindfulness among the scholars, fostering a positive and appreciative mindset.
One of the central themes of her message was the encouragement and motivation for scholars to complete their academic programs successfully. She underscored the significance of perseverance, hard work, and dedication in achieving academic success.
Dr. Luis D. Perez, Chief Education Program Specialist of CHED RO XI, also reminded the scholars of the responsibilities that come with their education, urging them to contribute meaningfully to society upon graduation.
A notable highlight of the event was the recognition given to 21 scholars who had completed their master’s and doctorate degrees, respectively. These individuals were acknowledged for their hard work, commitment, and accomplishments as SIKAP scholars.
