CHED towards boosting skills and competencies in sports management
To strengthen the partnership and provide a platform for sports leaders for the holistic sports development of the country, the Sports Development and Management Unit, under the Office of the Executive Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), holds the 2nd National Annual Tertiary Sports Leaders Congress to discuss the future of sports leadership in the country.
The three-day event was graced by CHED Executive Director IV, Atty. Cinderella Filipina S. Benitez-Jaro emphasizes the initiative’s goal to empower tertiary sports leaders by honing their skills and competencies in sports management.
Atty. Benitez-Jaro highlighted that the goal is aligned with the CHED Tertiary Sports Development Program (TSDP) outlined in CHED Memorandum Order No. 08, Series of 2022.
Meanwhile, CHED Chairperson Dr. J. Prospero E. De Vera III led a segment called “Usapang Sports with Chair Popoy De Vera,” discussing CHED’s role in supporting tertiary sports development and legislation for the National Tertiary Games.
He encouraged collaborative action among sports directors and stakeholders in support of the initiative.
The event is anchored by the theme “Elevating Tertiary Sports Excellence: Charting the Future of Sports Leadership.”
The activity was attended by sports leaders attendees and Regional Sports Coordinators of every CHED Regional Office.
“Together, let us reshape, reinforce, and realign sports development within the existing CHED sports policies, driving towards a brighter future for tertiary sports in our country,” Atty. Benitez-Jaro expressed in her closing remark.
Nevertheless, the event took place on April 23–25, 2024, at the Hive Hotel and Convention Place in Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila.
