The much-awaited CHEDX2.0 | Expand, Exceed, Exemplify event officially launched at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City, marking the beginning of a significant initiative to shape the future of IT education in the Philippines. CHED Secretary J. Prospero “Popoy” E. De Vera III graced the opening ceremony, leading a gathering of key industry leaders, academic partners, and stakeholders to explore the evolving synergy between education and industry.

CHEDX2.0 is an annual event dedicated to strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and industries, driving innovation, and advancing IT education nationwide. The event attracted nearly 400 participants, including 50 exhibitors representing the education and industry sectors from all over the Philippines. Attendees had the unique opportunity to explore various cutting-edge exhibits and discuss innovative solutions that bridge the gap between academia and industry.

This year’s theme, “Building Synergy: Aligning IT Education with Industry,” underscores the crucial need for collaboration between educational institutions, industry leaders, and other stakeholders in shaping the future workforce. The event catalyzed conversations on aligning IT curricula with the skills required by industries to ensure that students are well-prepared for the demands of the modern job market.

Secretary De Vera III emphasized the summit’s importance, urging attendees to view it as an event and a call to action. “This summit challenges us to rethink how we prepare students for the future workforce,” he stated. “We must expand our vision through strong partnerships between education and industry, ensuring we develop curricula that equip students with the skills needed to succeed. We must exceed expectations by redefining excellence in education and exemplify leadership by promoting sustainability, gender equality, and accessibility for all.”

Teresita Medado, President of Asia Pacific College, also highlighted the urgency of CHED’s initiatives. “The world needs this now,” she said during the press conference. “At CHED, we are committed to becoming the ‘game changers’ through innovation, and CHEDX2.0 is a key part of this vision.”

This event is a vital platform for educational institutions and industries to collaborate, exchange ideas, and forge partnerships. It ensures that the education system evolves in lockstep with the ever-changing needs of the workforce, fostering a dynamic and resilient IT industry.
