Faculty members from various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Davao Region offering Tourism and Hospitality Management programs are actively participating in the Train-the-Trainer Course on the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Seminar-Workshop. This four-day capacity-building initiative, held from April 8 to 11, 2025, at The Ritz Hotel at Garden Oases, Barrio Obrero, Davao City, aims to equip educators with essential knowledge and skills to promote the distinct qualities of Filipino hospitality and service excellence in their respective institutions.

The training is facilitated by the Department of Tourism (DOT) – Manila through its Office of Human Capital Development (OHCD). It emphasizes the importance of embedding the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence into the curriculum and professional practice, aligning academic instruction with industry standards and values. The DOT OHCD team, led by Mr. Ryan N. Sebastian, along with the DOT Davao Training and Development Team, provided expert guidance throughout the seminar. DOT Region XI Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan and CHED RO XI Education Supervisor II for Tourism and Hospitality Management Programs, Dr. Leomar Jay R. Oblianda, were also present to show institutional support.

Among the participating HEIs are: Assumption College of Davao, CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc., Cor Jesu College, Davao Central College, Davao del Norte State College, Davao Oriental State University, DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Holy Cross of Davao College, Joji Ilagan Career Center Foundation, Inc., Kolehiyo ng Pantukan, Lyceum of the Philippines – Davao, Philippine Women’s College of Davao, Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur, Samal Island City College, STI College Tagum, UM Tagum College, University of Mindanao, and the University of Southeastern Philippines – Obrero.

This collaborative effort between DOT and CHED RO XI demonstrates a shared commitment to elevating service standards and cultivating globally competitive graduates in the tourism and hospitality sectors. By strengthening the capabilities of educators, the program ensures that students in the Davao Region receive training that reflects the highest standards of professionalism, excellence, and Filipino warmth—core attributes that define the nation’s brand of service.
