Davao City- The Council of Deans for Engineering Education Region XI (CODEE XI), led by its Chair Engr. Michael Calamba and supported by CHEDRO XI Adviser Dr. Mari Christina B. Condez, convened for its 2nd Quarterly Regular Meeting at Coco’s South Bistro, Davao City.

The meeting gathered deans and representatives from various higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region offering Engineering programs. A key agenda was the proposed revision of the Council’s Constitution and By-Laws to ensure relevance and alignment with the evolving needs of engineering education and to promote greater collaboration among member institutions.

Part of the discussion focused on upcoming faculty development initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching and research capabilities of engineering educators. Among these are the Technopreneurship training to be facilitated by Ateneo de Davao University and the Intellectual Property training in partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPhil). These initiatives underscore CODEE XI’s commitment to equipping faculty members with the necessary tools to foster innovation and entrepreneurial mindsets among students.

Another major highlight of the meeting was the proposed conduct of a Region-wide Industry-Government-Academe Forum. This initiative aims to strengthen linkages among key stakeholders and align engineering programs with the demands of industry and national development goals. The forum is envisioned to support the continued implementation of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) across engineering programs in the Davao Region.

CODEE XI remains steadfast in its mission to advance engineering education through strategic collaborations, capacity-building, and policy development that respond to the region’s growing needs.
