Davao City — On June 13, 2025, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHED RO XI) actively took part in the “Tree Planting Activity in Celebration of Philippine Arbor Day” held in Barangay Marahan along the Davao-Buda National Highway. Spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) — Talomo River Water Quality Management Area, the activity brought together government agencies, community stakeholders, and civic groups in a collective effort to promote environmental sustainability and contribute to conserving the region’s rich natural resources.

The event underscores CHED RO XI’s strong commitment to conserving nature and its continued support for the government’s re-greening initiatives, which aim to mitigate climate change, reduce erosion, protect watersheds, and aid in preserving the region’s ecological balance. The activity also provided an opportunity for CHED RO XI’s personnel to connect with their community and appreciate the significance of responsible environmental stewardship.

Through this activity, CHED RO XI contributed to fostering a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for Davao Region — reflecting its role in developing responsible, environmentally conscious institutions and graduates who care for their community and the planet. This collective action resonates with CHED’s Higher Heights in Higher Education, emphasizing that education, service, and environmental care go hand in hand in securing a sustainable future for generations to come.
