As CHED rolls out the implementation of the Philippine Credit Transfer System (PCTS) and pilots its implementation to various higher education programs, the CHED as initiated by the Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD) and Technical Committee on Hospitality Management and Tourism Management (TCHMTM) hold the Consultative Workshop on the Drafting of the Framework and Guidelines of the Credit Transfer System for Tourism and Hospitality Management on November 13-14, 2023 at The Grand Regal Hotel, JP Laurel Ave., Lanang, Davao City.

The two-day workshop is attended by representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Tourism (DOT), HEIs through the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines XI (COHREP XI), and Technical-Vocational Institutions.

To support the implementation of RA 10647 and RA 10968, otherwise known as the “Ladderization Act of 2014” and the “Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Act of 2018,” respectively, the Philippine Credit Transfer System (PCTS) is adopted and promulgated jointly by the CHED and TESDA. The PCTS operates in conjunction with the PQF. It provides the framework for learner progression through the PQF levels. The workshop intends to validate the clusters, levels, and courses, and discuss the best option for the PCTS Pathways Mechanism. The workshop outputs shall be used to pilot the Hospitality Management and Tourism Management credit transfer system.

The participants were officially welcomed by CHED RO XI Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, CESO III, while the OPSD represented by Dr. Buenaventura Macatangay shared the activity’s Statement of Purpose. Facilitating the workshop are the TCHMTM Chair Prof. Benhur A. Ong, and Members Ms. Ma. Christina G. Aquino and Dr. Ignacio Cordova, Jr.. Assisting them are Academe and Industry Resource Persons Ms. Susanna Edilo, Mr. Rennier Perez, Ms. Fe Abling-Yu, and Mr. Florentino Matilla, Jr..
